It’s My Mom’s Birthday Today

Wherever you are reading this, please sing a little happy birthday to my mom.  She won’t hear you, since she’s not omnipresent, but you’ll have fun anyway.

Happy Birthday, Mom!  I love you!

Acadia can’t get the idea that, while everyone has a birthday, not everyone has a party for it.  When I told her yesterday, “Tomorrow is Grandma’s birthday!” she said, “ooh, can we go to it?”  Once again, I explained the concept of birthday verses birthday party.  But really, if you have a birthday, why not have a party?  Right?  And you should have little cakes, in Acadia’s opinion.  And little tea pots.  Because apparently Mommy scored some big points last year at her 4th birthday party, when we had that fancy afternoon tea.  It has become the definition of Party in her vocabulary.  That’s cool with me.  I wouldn’t mind doing that each year.

I’m glad I didn’t go for the Dora the Explorer theme.  Year after year of that shrill voice would have sent me over the edge.

But I digress.

Happy birthday, Mom!

I promise I won’t get you a dustpan and broom, like I did that one year (bad idea, Dad, even if you did personalize it with “Mommy” written in black Sharpie).

I love you!

RUNNING HOME

My blog. Herein read entries related to who and what is important to me. Feel free to leave comments. I feel free to delete them if I don't like them. So there. By reading about my life, readers should expect to begin to see their own lives as increasingly more organized and sophisticated, their homes cleaner and neater.

Why This Blog?

Well, mostly this is for my family to see pictures and read anecdotes about the kids. It's also a venue for telling the story of my struggles and victories in my life as a Christian, a wife, a mother, and a teacher. Occasionally I toss in some weird or touching item that I've found.

What’s Christianity All About?

The Gospel is the news that Jesus Christ, the Righteous One, died for our sins and rose again, eternally triumphant over all his enemies, so that there is now no condemnation for those who believe, but only everlasting joy. [as said by John Piper]
