My Little Illustrator

While Gannon practiced his 8’s on the white board, Acadia noted that they looked like ducks. That gave Gannon an idea, and he messed around with making them into waterfowl, then erased it all and did this:

8 ducks

He dictated the words to me. The ducklings are in a shallow pond, with a muddy bottom and a tree just to the left of it. They can’t see their mom, who is behind the tree. She’s got her wings out, ready to fly over the tree to them. He made a big 8 in the corner by the tree, “so that they won’t have to count the ducks” to find out how many there are.

Under inspiration, we grabbed Make Way For Ducklings, and checked the number of baby ducks…there are eight!

Now Gannon wants to make a book of this story and give it to the library. Then the library is supposed to give us money to buy more stuff to make more books. Sounds good to me. How will the children’s librarian receive this idea, I wonder?

This story is only one small reason kids are amazing! Their creativity amazes me every day.
Thanks for paying a visit to my blog this week. I took a long break to deal with baby number two, who kicked my tushie! I am back up and running – at least until she is born!
How’s MOPS this year -are you attending?

Wow, that’s great. It’s nice when they just develop that love of writing or reading and run with it. (Then there are some of mine I have to drag along every step of the way . . . )

I’ve said it once, (well more than once), but I’ll say it again……you are such a homeschooler! I love it!

RUNNING HOME

My blog. Herein read entries related to who and what is important to me. Feel free to leave comments. I feel free to delete them if I don't like them. So there. By reading about my life, readers should expect to begin to see their own lives as increasingly more organized and sophisticated, their homes cleaner and neater.

Why This Blog?

Well, mostly this is for my family to see pictures and read anecdotes about the kids. It's also a venue for telling the story of my struggles and victories in my life as a Christian, a wife, a mother, and a teacher. Occasionally I toss in some weird or touching item that I've found.

What’s Christianity All About?

The Gospel is the news that Jesus Christ, the Righteous One, died for our sins and rose again, eternally triumphant over all his enemies, so that there is now no condemnation for those who believe, but only everlasting joy. [as said by John Piper]
